Goals are not accomplished with Luck

“You’re so lucky.” We’ve all said it and also heard it from others when something good happens. When change happens in life, people generally think it occurred by chance or good fortune. In fact there’s a note of envy when someone else gets more luck in life.

It’s a sad truth that we practice a life view which decreases our power just by the way we observe change happening. Making change happen requires taking ownership of the choices we make.

Finding the ideal life partner is a favorite topic in life coaching. Life Maps clients frequently find an ideal life partner but the goal is not accomplished with luck. Making change happen in one’s life requires the practice of specific life skills but the first requirement is an attitude of readiness to change from within.

To cultivate the readiness to change oneself requires focus on:
  1. Clear description of the need for change – write down what you need or want to be different in your life. Some things will be omitted because it was not a true concern. Example: I need a life partner that makes me laugh. Omitted: he’s the life of a party.
  2. Being specific about what to change about self – write down what needs to be different about yourself to attract the change you desire. Example: I need to frequently place myself in settings where my ideal life partner would be. No longer will I sit and wait to be found.
  3. Using a Life Map – write down the what, when and how you will make the change happen in yourself. Example: I will spend one hour three times a week in three different specific settings being receptive to potential life partners.
  4. Holding yourself accountable – as you act on your Life Map plan, write down your experience and learn from it. Use other methods of developing self awareness like talking to your friends about your self change and taking self reflection into your prayer life. Example: I am weekly telling two friends how my Life Map plan is going and I’m writing down my experiences to learn from them.

Life is changing around us all the time and being caught up in the busyness of life is counter-productive to living a chosen life direction. Set a goal and be ready to use the power you have to reach that goal – your self awareness and readiness to change yourself.
